A guide to finding the correct size for wrestling shoes. Here’s how to measure your foot to find the right size in the size chart.
Â
1. Measure the length of your foot
- Place your foot on a sheet of paper.
- Mark with a pen where your heel ends and where your longest toe ends.
- Use a ruler to measure the distance between the two marks.
Example: Your foot measures 27 cm.
2. Add extra room for your toes
- If you want a tight fit with a little toe room, add 0.5 cm.
- If you prefer a bit more room, add 1 cm.
- If you use insoles or thicker socks, you should add additional space.
Example: Foot length (27 cm) + 0.5 cm extra room = 27.5 cm.
3. Choose the right shoe size from the size chart
- Check the size chart for the shoe you want to buy.
- Choose the size that matches your total measurement (foot length + extra room).
Example: Asics with an internal length of 27.5 cm corresponds to size EU 43.5. Adidas with an internal length of 27.5 cm corresponds to size 43 1/3.
4. Tips if you have wide feet
- Wrestling shoes are often tight at first but stretch over time.
- If you have wide feet, expect it to take a little time before the shoes adjust.
- One way to speed up the process is to wear the shoes at home with slightly damp thicker socks for 30–60 minutes. The moisture helps the shoes mold to your feet faster.
- Most people with wide feet prefer Asics over Adidas.
5. Try on the shoes properly
- When trying the shoes for the first time, fully loosen the laces before putting your foot in.
- Once your foot is in place, tighten the laces to the level you prefer.
